Challenge:

The DE&S Delivery Team required independent assurance that a £200M contract with a Prime Contractor offered genuine value for money. Lacking in-house expertise to validate cost assumptions, they sought specialist support.

Action:

RT Consulting deployed specialist expertise with deep engineering, logistics, and commercial knowledge to analyse the contract’s cost structure. We conducted a detailed investigation into the pricing assumptions and service delivery, uncovering inconsistencies and identifying areas of potential overcharging.

Result: £10m Impact

The analysis revealed up to £10M in potential overspend, prompting formal commercial negotiations with the Prime Contractor. RT Consulting’s structured approach has been recognised as a valuable learning tool and is now being applied by the Delivery Team to inform negotiations on a higher-value follow-on contract.
